Join David Butler as he speaks to debut authors Aingeala Flannery, Paul Duffy and Kathleen Murray about their paths to publication.

Kathleen Murray was born in Carlow and educated at Trinity College, Dublin. She has published work in The Stinging Fly, Dublin Review, Winter Papers and various anthologies. In 2007 she was the first Irish winner of the Fish Short Story Prize, and she was a finalist for the Davy Byrnes Short Story Award for her story ‘Storm Glass’. The Deadwood Encore is her first novel.

Paul Duffy is an archaeologist and historian and has published widely on these subjects. His short fiction has also been published, broadcast and shortlisted for many national and international competitions. Paul’s debut novel, Run with the Hare, Hunt with the Hound brings together both strands of his writing to create an immersive narrative set in twelfth century Ireland.

Aingeala Flannery was born in Waterford. She’s an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and writer. Aingeala was awarded a Literature Bursary by the Arts Council of Ireland in 2020 and 2021. Her debut novel The Amusements is published by Penguin Sandycove. She lives in Dublin and is working on her second novel.
